EFL AG-DATA: Vietnam's lysine prices extend gains amid tight supply and rising import costs

Vietnam's lysine market remained on an upward trend between March and May 2026, supported by firm feed demand, tight spot availability, and rising import replacement costs.

Strong global amino acid pricing, elevated freight costs, and steady livestock feed demand across Asia also underpinned market sentiment.

Prices for both 70% sulphate and 98.5% hydrochloride lysine increased progressively over the period, while concerns over geopolitical tensions and higher logistics costs continued to support the market outlook.

Vietnam Lysine: Prices rise further on strong demand and tight supply (week ended March 13, 2026)

Amino acid markets strengthened during the week, supported by firm global pricing and active restocking by feed producers.

The near-term outlook remains firm, though price volatility may emerge as buyers begin to resist higher levels.

Lysine prices increased, with 70% sulphate rising from around ₫15,290/kg (US$0.58) to ₫17,900/kg (US$0.68), and 98.5% hydrochloride climbing from approximately ₫30,160/kg (US$1.14) to ₫32,900/kg (US$1.25).

The increase was driven by tight spot availability and continued procurement demand.

Vietnam Lysine: Prices increase on firm feed demand (week ended April 24, 2026)

Amino acid markets remained relatively supported as feed demand stabilised alongside gradual recovery in livestock production.

However, supply conditions varied across products, with some easing in upstream costs while others remained firm due to import dependency.

Lysine prices increased, with 70% sulphate rising from ₫19,500/kg (US$0.74) to ₫20,000/kg (US$0.76) and 98.5% HCl from ₫36,500/kg (US$1.39) to ₫37,500/kg (US$1.42), supported by steady feed demand and firmer import replacement costs.

Vietnam Lysine: Prices increase on firm feed demand and higher import costs (week ended May 8, 2026)

The amino acid market remained firm as global feed additive prices continued to face support from elevated freight costs, tighter supplier offers, and steady livestock feed demand across Asia.

Market sentiment was also influenced by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which increased concerns over logistics and raw material costs.

Lysine prices increased moderately during the week, with 70% sulphate rising from ₫20,200/kg (US$0.77) to ₫20,500/kg (US$0.78) and 98.5% hydrochloride from ₫38,000/kg (US$1.44) to ₫38,500/kg (US$1.46).

The increase was mainly supported by firmer import replacement costs and stable procurement demand from feed mills.
