Orffa, Excentials introduce new organic selenium for animal nutrition

European-based feed additives company Orffa and its global subsidiary Excentials will launch a new generation of organic selenium for the global animal nutrition market.
The product will be marketed under the brand name Excential Selenium4000.
Selenium (Se) is an essential trace element for animal health and supply of an adequate level in the diet is highly important. Se sources added to the animal diet can be categorised as inorganic or organic. Excential Selenium4000 is a new form of organic Se for animal nutrition.
The traditional way of supplying organic Se is in the form of selenised yeast. Organic Se has been proven superior in bioavailability in a great share of animal trials. However, there is a limitation of selenised yeast and this lies in the fact that only part of the Se is in the form of selenomethionine, which is the actual effective organic form and on top of that yeast is not 100% digestible.
The new product tackles these issues effectively, showing no variation in concentration and all Se is in the form of effective digestible organic Se. Intensive trial work in laying hens and dairy cows show the superior bioavailability of the product over selenised yeast.
Orffa's dossier on quality, safety and efficacy has been recognised by the European Food Safety Authority and European Commission. The product has now been authorised in Europe as a nutritional feed additive for use in all animal species. This intensive registration process and authorisation confirms the quality and safety of the product.
The product will be launched on a global scale. Within Europe the product will be marketed via Orffa and outside Europe the product will be launched via the Excentials network.
Orffa is the leading European company in the market of feed additives and Excentials is the global vehicle to export Orffa's business model and offers specialty feed additives and nutritional solutions for markets outside Europe.
