Bangladesh gains US$40 million in export orders from seafood fair
Bangladesh has received export orders worth a total of BDT 280 crore (US$ 42 million) at the European Sea Food Fair held on May 9-11 in Belgium, according to the country's news agency.
A total of 31 Bangladeshi exporters, led by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).
participated in the fair.
Bangladesh seafood was attractive to European buyers as it conforms to European standards of food preservation, processing and packaging.
The buyers also required improved packaging and adherence to health and hygiene standards of the EU.
Exporters hope that participation at the fair would fuel further orders of black tiger prawns favoured in Europe.
