Namibian meat fares better in second round of EU inspections
After a follow-up inspection on Namibia's meat industry, EU veterinarians have announced that the country has fared better this time and will not need to make many changes this time around. The required changes are still being drafted are have yet to be released.
The previous inspection was held two years ago and resulted in the country suspending certification of animal products to the EU. The ban was meant to enable the industry to implement remedial steps regarding the quarantine of sheep to prevent infection of foot-and-mouth disease, the surveillance of a bacterial disease in cattle and a few other matters.
