Nutri-Systems International Introduces Enzyme To Fights Aquaculture Pollution
Nutri-Systems International, Inc., a pioneer in microbial research, has unveiled MEGA SPO, a super microbial enzyme formulation to counter aqua-culture¡¯s perennial problem of pollution.
MEGA SPO is the latest breakthrough in the nutri systems line of microbial and enzyme formulation, for treating waste water in the high-density prawn and fish aqua culture practice in the country. The company revealed this at the recent Fourth National Shrimp Industry Congress.
Growing water pollution is the primary cause of massive fish kills in the country.
"MEGA SPO is based on improved bacterial strain plus the incorporation of denitrifying bacteria Thiobacillus dentrificans and Parococcus entrifications," said Elva Whang, president of Nutri Systems International.
She said these bacteria are incorporated to counter the problems of excessive ammonia associated with high-density prawn and or fin fish culture.
"Not only do these bacteria degrade organic wastes and metabolite faster and more efficiently, but Thiobacillus denitrificans and Paraccus denitrificans have been tested in laboratories and shown to reduce ammonia content in waste streams by as much as 93 per cent within 24 hours." Whang added.
Nutri Systems has applied its SPO series successfully in the following aqua culture farms: Buenseco Farms in Bulacan; Rommel Catli Farms in San Luis, Pampanga; Robert Gan Farms in Minalin, Pampanga; Mallari Farms in Candaba, Pampanga; and Manalac Farms in Sta. Rita, Pampanga.
