Chore-Time offers upgraded floor systems and nests for specialty egg producers

Chore-Time's VIKE Tradition Aviary System, used in conjunction with VALEGO Pagoda Nests, allows organic and specialty egg producers to increase bird density while retaining the requirements and marketing advantages of floor systems.

Chore-Time offers its VIKE™ Tradition™ Aviary System in conjunction with VALEGO™ Pagoda™ Nests, which can help organic and other specialty egg producers maximise income, while maintaining the same requirements and marketing advantages of floor systems. Not only does the use of Tradition Aviaries with Pagoda Nests allow increased bird density, but it also helps to encourage more natural bird behaviour and increase hygiene within a poultry house.

Unlike the complex multi-tier aviaries used by many of the larger cage-free egg producers, Chore-Time's solution does not include integrated nests. Although the configuration can be customised to meet individual needs, most specialty egg producers choose to install two rows of Tradition Aviaries along the walls of a house with Pagoda Nests down the centre, providing a separate area for laying.

Chore-Time's Tradition Aviary System uses a simple, less-intensive design that has been used in European markets since the 1980s. It offers a lower level with ample room for ground-sourced pecking, scratching, dust bathing and other natural bird activities that discourage pecking at one another. The tree-style design features an upper level with perches, which can easily be accessed from the lower level. Birds enjoy sleeping on these perches and will also seek safety there when bullied by others in the flock. More tiers can be stacked as desired.

Integrated feeders and drinkers are included on multiple levels of the Tradition Aviary, allowing birds easy access throughout the system. The aviary also has manure belts that remove litter daily, which greatly reduces ammonia levels within the house compared with traditional floor systems.

The separate Pagoda Nests are made of high-quality materials, such as film-faced plywood and stainless-steel legs, which are durable, easy to clean and corrosion resistant. A twin hinged roof system offers easy inspection and cleaning.

Pagoda Nests are available with rear or floor expellers. Chore-Time's patented rack-drive expulsion (RDE) system provides unmatched egg protection and moves all of the birds out of the nest. Furthermore, it requires less labour than competitive systems, helping to lower production costs.
