Lenard's aims to maintain chicken's affordability in Australia

Lenard's, a leading Australian poultry company, is taking steps to ensure that chicken remains the country's most affordable source of protein in the country through its "hero on the plate" concept, Food & Beverage reported.
Through the concept, the company aims to combat the rising cost of living by reducing wastage and offering ready-made products that customers can personalise.
Lenard Poulter, Founder, Owner, and CEO of Lenard's, highlights the issue of food waste in Australia, with studies indicating that one in five grocery bags goes to waste each year.
By providing pre-prepared products that customers can tailor to their preferences, Lenard's contributes to reducing this waste while still giving customers the feeling of cooking a home-based meal, Poulter said.
10 million chickens are consumed every week in Australia, with individuals consuming an average of 38 kg of chicken meat per year. This surpasses the consumption of beef, swine (including processed products), and lamb on a per capita basis.
Research supported by AgriFutures Australia reveals that the demand for chicken meat is expected to continue growing as more consumers opt for the relatively more affordable chicken meat over other options like beef and lamb. Notably, chicken has the lowest environmental impact among meats and offers the least expensive form of meat protein. Over 99% of chicken meat sold in Australia is locally sourced.
Poulter said the company's priority is to ensure consumers have access to healthy and convenient chicken products, and they believe this is the key to growing overall consumption.
