EuroTier 2022 partners with Kazakh Dairy Olympics event
EuroTier will be partnering in the 13th Dairy Olympics, an international event addressing region-relevant dairy topics, happening in Almaty, Kazakhstan on May 22-27.
As part of the "EuroTier on tour" series, which explores a livestock-related topic in a specific region, the conference is expected to attract Kazakh and international experts.
Focusing on robotics in milk production, genetics and feed production as well as other topics like relevant retail markets and non-dairy milk products, the Dairy Olympics will also include EuroTier's contribution titled "Next Generation Dairy Plant and Digitalization on artificial intelligence on future farms".
Zinpro Corporation, Alta Genetics and MSD Animal Health — together with the German–Kazakh Project Competence Promotion in Milk Production and DLG (German Agricultural Society) — will explore manual labour on farms, the shift of technology from human management to herd management, artificial intelligence (AI) on farms and digital nutrition.
The five-day programme will welcome over 300 attendees and include leading market experts, technology providers, milk producers, dairy companies and representatives of professional institutions as well as 50 presentations and access to invited experts from the International Dairy Federation, Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture and Rabobank.
Visits to a dairy farm and milk processing companies in the Almaty region are also part of the programme.
"As a strategic partner of the Dairy Olympic, the EuroTier trade fair will be contributing to the programme with the Futurological Congress part. Together with our partner speakers, we will analyse what the future dairy farm could look like," said Dr. Olga Hunger, area director (Eastern Europe), who will be moderating EuroTier's session.
"DLG's aim is to share professional knowledge across borders," she added.
The Dairy Olympics is organised by Dairy News, an international dairy news portal.
"The Kazakh government is focused on developing its dairy farming production capacity and has launched a support programme for the 2018-27 period to increase milk production and processing, integration, sustainability and competitiveness of the dairy sector, as well as food security and import substitution," explained Dr. Hunger.
Kazakhstan's 1000 dairy farms produces five million tonnes of raw milk annually. Some 170 dairies process milk into kefir, drinking milk, sour cream and butter. Small-herd farms dominate in Kazakhstan's south, while larger farms with 400 plus cattle heads are prominent in the north.
The country also offers subsidies for the setting up and running of a dairy farm and additional investment grants with up to 25% reimbursement.
Kazakhstan Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov confirmed that the country plans to build at least 35 commercial dairy farms annually, of which 10-15 will be of industrial type.
Such projects are expected to increase production volumes, increase the capacity of milk processing enterprises, reduce import dependence and create new jobs.
