Vilofoss: New trials shows SeoFoss reduces resistance in slurry
A new trial conducted at Aalborg University shows that the resistance in slurry (also called viscosity) can be reduced by about 30% when Vilofoss' SeoFoss is added, the premix and animal nutrition company said.
When the resistance in the slurry is reduced, less energy is being used to move it. This means that if pumps are used to stir / move the slurry, the need can be reduced.
A slight resistance in slurry is of important note for cattle, pig and biogas producers. In herds, SeoFoss is used especially to make the handling of slurry easier in the stables; it is easier to flush the manure or to get it out of the stable to the slurry tank.
The experiment at Aalborg University showed that the effect of SeoFoss is the same for both pig and cattle slurry and biomass from reactor vessels.
The time course of the effect was also examined, and the results immediately showed that the effect is obtained directly after the addition of SeoFoss, and that the increased viscosity remains present.
Even after four months, there still was a lower resistance in biomass to which SeoFoss was added.
