ASF outbreak detected in pig finishing barn in Russia, Tambov Region
An outbreak of African swine fever in a finishing barn of a swine enterprise with 15,000 susceptible pigs in Russia was recorded, according to the Rosselkhoznadzor (Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision).
The outbreak occurred on April 25 in Nikiforovsky District, Tambov Region.
At the time of the registration of the outbreak, 15,000 pigs were present, 114 of which were sick, and 34 of which died.
On May 6, 2021, an interdepartmental meeting was held in Tambov to discuss the elimination of the ASF outbreak and organise coordinated measures aimed at ensuring epizootic well-being in the region.
Following the meeting, the deputy head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Konstantin Savenkov, instructed officials to take comprehensive measures to ensure epizootic well-being of Tambov.
