In three days, the International Conference on Marine Science Research and Technology starts in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This conference provides an international forum for the exchange of information on marine biology, interactions between organisms and functioning of marine biosphere, aquatic ecosystems, microscopic phytoplankton, oceanography, ecology and botany, among others.

1st Aquaculture UK Conference

This inaugural conference complements the biennial Aquaculture UK Exhibition and is set to present an impressive array of over 30 speakers, representing both industry and academia.
The event, to be held at the University of Stirling, will be opened by Stewart Graham, founder, owner and managing director of Gael Force, who will be able to offer delegates a unique insight into the progress of the Industry Leadership Group (ILG) on aquaculture, which he co-chairs and which aims to help the Scottish aquaculture sector double in value by 2030.
With the theme "Growing Together", the conference provides a forum for knowledge exchange.
Topics to be covered include Scotland's aquaculture growth; production, breeding and genetics; nutrition; and health and welfare.
"The Aquaculture UK brand now has annual events—alternating between a conference and an exhibition. The conference is designed to allow contributors and delegates to network without the pressure of exhibiting—we deliberately haven't included an exhibition so that attendees have that opportunity," Susan Tinch, who has been integral in setting up the new event for Aquaculture UK, explained.
World Aquaculture 2017

World Aquaculture 2017 will be held with involvement from countries throughout the African continent and around the world. Aquaculture is rapidly growing in Africa and increasingly being integrated into the continent's food systems; therefore 2017 is the perfect time for the world aquaculture community to focus on Africa.
A major international trade show at World Aquaculture 2017 is the place to learn about the latest aquaculture technologies presented by exhibitors from around the world.
Plenary speakers include Dr Sloans Chimatiro, who played a leading role in the formulation of fisheries and aquaculture policy and governance programmes for the African Union; Tom Hecht, an emeritus professor of Rhodes University where he helped to position the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science as a regional centre of excellence in aquaculture; and Rohana Subasinghe, a specialist in aquaculture development and aquatic animal health management.

Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2017

The Asian-Pacific Aquaculture 2017 showcases the latest in aquaculture and the newest technologies in the trade show with exhibits from around the world. APA 2017 will have a large exhibition featuring international companies showcasing the latest in products, services and all aquaculture related information, which all should enhance your aquaculture operation.
With the theme "Transforming for Market's Needs", APA 2017 will have special sessions on marine shrimp, freshwater fish culture, production systems, tilapia, marine finfish molluscs culture, risk management, aquafeeds and nutrition, development and planning, marketing and trade, among others.

Aquaculture Laboratory hybrid course at Oregon State University
August 21 – September 8, 2017
Newport, Oregon, USA
Aquaculture Laboratory is aimed at students who would like to develop a practical understanding and the basic techniques associated with aquaculture and aquaculture research. The first week of this course is held online and will provide an overview of aquaculture as well as planning for the on-campus portion.
The second and third weeks are held at the Hatfield Marine Science Centre in Newport, Oregon. Course topics are centered around west coast species including salmonids, oysters, algae and ornamental species.
Course activities will include:
1.) Field trips to the Oregon Hatchery Research Centre, Alsea Hatchery and behind the scenes at Oregon Coast Aquarium;
2.) Student-led research projects centered on PNW species; and
3.) Hands-on activities associated with water-quality testing, system design/component breakdown and live feed cultures.
This course is open to non-OSU students and student housing is available at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.
