Degussa ups its DL-methionine price to EUR2.40/kg
An eFeedLink Exclusive
Degussa announced on May 11 its new price for its DL-Methionine at EUR2.40/kg. The price will be adjusted accordingly in other currencies and take effect immediately. However, all existing commitments will be honoured, the company adds.
Latest cost increases for raw materials, energy and transport have made this price adjustment necessary, Degussa says.
"Since autumn 2005, raw material and energy costs have been continuously rising," says its feed additives marketing head Dr Reiner Beste. He further points out that there is a high likelihood of further cost increases in the coming months, especially since it saw "a big jump" in costs in 2005 Q4.
"As a producer, we are not able to absorb this magnitude of cost increases and are forced to pass it on to the market," he adds.
The company also released on May 17 the year's first issue of its magazine AminoNews. Already in circulation for seven years to customers, scientists and universities, this issue covers topics such as on the utilisation of supplemental amino acids in animal nutrition, and the use of isoleucine in pig nutrition.
AminoNews is published four times a year and available in three languages English, Spanish and German.
Degussa is the only company in the world to provide all four important amino acids for animal nutrition: DL-Methionine, L-Lysine (Biolys), L-Threonine and L-Tryptophan. Its feed additives business unit supplies to customers in over 100 countries.
