Russia raises imports of malting barley

 

 

During the last nine months (July-March) of 2011/12 marketing year, Russia imported 239,800 tonnes of the malting barley, 33% higher against the same period of the last season, according to the country's official data.

 

Considering the limited supply of the grain on the domestic market of the country, and also the traditional increase of malt production volumes in the period of March-June, there will be the high temps of the malting barley imports.

 

Thus, according to the April forecast of the analysts of APK-Inform Agency, in 2011/12 MY Russia will import 400,000 tonnes of the malting barley (up 14% compared to the March forecast), meanwhile in the previous season the stated rate totalled 370,000 tonnes, and in 2009/10 MY - 9,000 tonnes.
