Farmex and Optifarm collaborate to enhance farm data utilisation for swine and poultry farms

UK-based companies Farmex and Optifarm have announced a collaboration to utilise production data generated on swine and poultry farms, which aims to improve farm management through their collective expertise, Pig World reported.
Farmex, a technology company, and Optifarm, a livestock intelligence business, have built on their previous joint research funded by innovation agency IUK. Farmex generates and analyses farm data through its Barn Report Pro system, while Optifarm integrates data from various sources via its app.
The project employs AI to analyse parameters such as water use, temperature, and static pressure, identifying anomalies and potential explanations. These insights are then sent directly to mobile phones and farm offices in real time, enabling immediate decision-making.
The goal is to maximise animal and bird welfare while creating efficient, cost-effective production.
The Optifarm app is used in poultry production in several countries, and over 10 million pigs in the UK and the US are monitored through Barn Report Pro. Costs for automatically generated anomaly detections start at a few pence per house, while charges for more proactive technical support and advice vary based on individual needs.
