Singapore approves pork and beef imports from Japan
Singapore has approved to the importing of Japanese pork and beef Thursday (May 14), the Japanese farm ministry said.
Japan is allowed to export pork derived from pigs raised in the country and processed at specific plants in Kagoshima Prefecture, southwestern Japan.
Singapore also decided to resume imports of Japanese beef, suspended since September 2001 due to the outbreak of mad cow disease.
Singapore will only import beef derived from Japanese cows aged less than 30 months, and processed at specific plants in Gunman Prefecture, eastern Japan, and Kagoshima Prefecture.
