High pressure invigorates EU pig prices

EU pig prices are moving up rapidly due to high demand but limited supplies.

Germany has put through a high quotation that pushes the price up by 8 cents, overtaking the leading Spanish price level.

Spain has increased its pig supply in preparation for the holiday months, resulting in stagnant prices.

The Netherlands, Belgium and Austria are close to hitting a peak as they adjust their quotations to German prices.

Denmark and France managed to raise prices despite the disturbances caused by the recent Russian ban on imports. Slaughter pigs are also paid for a higher price in Ireland this week.
