Slow demand, excess supply weaken China methionine market
Prices of methionine moved lower during the week ending May 14.
Demand for methionine showed little improvement as feed producers were reluctant to step up production while livestock markets underperformed. With supplies plentiful, several producers cut prices to below RMB20/kg in attempts to promote sales.
For liquid methionine, price quotes were stable at RMB16-17/kg.
