Vietnam resumes fish export to Russia

Vietnam will resume the export of tra fish to Russia this month, after it ended in Q1 due to some undisclosed problems, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Le Phuong said.

Nevertheless, Phuong said that Vietnam will still be facing a lot of difficulties attempting to export tra fish to Russia because Russia is trying to tighten imports and control the quality of imports. The Russian government is following the policy on reducing fish import volume in general in an effort to protect local production.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, besides tra fish, Russia's demand for other seafood products from Vietnam such as shrimp, dried seafood and surimi have been increasing. The number of Vietnamese enterprises that register to export seafood products to Russia has also increased.

Also according to Phuong, the Steering Committee on exporting tra fish to Russia has recently suggested to give credit ranking to Russian enterprises that plan to have long term business relations with Vietnam by giving 2-5% price discounts. The credit ranking will be given by Vietnamese enterprises and associations.

This is an interesting solution which aims to encourage Russian enterprises to import Vietnam's products and benefits Vietnamese enterprises.
