Egypt Confirms 60,000 MT Australian Wheat Buy At $163.40/MT

Egypt's main state wheat buyer, the General Authority for Supply Commodities, or GASC, said Thursday that it bought a total of 60,000 metric tons of Australian hard wheat at $163.40 per ton in its tender from AWB Ltd.

The wheat is for June 16-30 shipment free-on-board, said Saeed Hifny, a senior GASC importing official.

Including Thursday's purchase, GASC has imported a total of 5.08 million tons of wheat since the beginning of the marketing year beginning July 1. Of that, 2.52 million tons of U.S. wheat and 2.16 million tons of Australian wheat were secured through GASC's tender process.

Some 400,000 tons of Syrian wheat were purchased outside tenders in the same period.
