China's Shandong Xiwang Group to Build a 60,000-Ton Lysine Plant in Shandong Province

According to industry source, construction of yet another lysine plant in China is underway. Shandong Xiwang Group Co., Ltd, a company with diversified interests, is currently stepping up the construction of a 60,000-ton lysine plant in Shandong province. The first phase of the project, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons lysine, is expected to commence production by the end of this year. Presently, the company is actively soliciting for distributors for its lysine products.


Xiwang Group is reportedly adopting Japan's Ajinomoto's lysine production technology. The total investment for the lysine project is said to be around RMB 320 million.  


With total assets of RMB 884 million, Xiwang Group's core business is in corn-processing. The privately owned company holds an import / export permit for several other products, and the Group's sales revenue reportedly would reach RMB 3 billion in 2004, with profit before tax at RMB 300 million. In 2005, the company is forecasting sales revenue of RMB 5 billion, with profit before tax at RMB 500 million.
