North Carolina to improve poultry plants conditions

Mike Easley, governor of US state North Carolina, is to put forward US$1 million to increase inspections of poultry plants and assure good working conditions.

The move is part of his 2008-09 budget proposal, which includes US$714,000 to help prevent exposure to agricultural pesticides, increased education efforts for farm workers, additional trainers, increased field inspections and compliance monitoring and illness and injury reporting.

Easley will present the budget to the General Assembly next week to provide additional funds for the needy and assistance to workers in the state's poultry industry.

The support will help the people to become productive members for the society, according to Easley.
