Netherlands' piglet exports increase 1.8% in Q1 2021
In the first quarter of 2021, the Netherlands' piglet exports totaled 1.72 million head, an increase of 1.8% over the previous year, according to RVO data.
The main destination continues to be Germany with 54.4% of the total number of piglets exported by the Netherlands, followed again by Spain with 26.8% of the total and by Belgium and Luxembourg with 12.7%.
The significant increase in Spanish imports of Dutch piglets is worth mentioning, which increased by 66% compared to the first quarter of last year (278,457 versus 462,694).
Spain follows its upward trend from last year during which it imported 17% more piglets than in 2019, with 1.24 million piglets imported from the Netherlands.
