Romanian poultry producer acquires operations of BRF subsidiary
Romanian poultry producer Aaylex, which operates under the CocoRico brand, has completed the acquisition of the Romanian operations of Turkish group Banvit Foods.
Banvit was part of Brazilian group BRF, the third-biggest poultry producer in the world.
The value of the deal was €20.3 million (US$24.6 million), according to law firm Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii, which assisted BRF in the sale, Profit.ro reported.
The Romanian subsidiary of Banvit Foods, which was the subject of the takeover, had an annual turnover of €234.4 million and a net profit of €22.34 million. It had 153 employees in 2019. In the market since 2004, Banvit Foods is also involved in animal feed and egg production activities.
Aaylex has 24 farms in Buzau, Braila, Calarasi, Galati, Giurgiu and Prahova. Additionally, the company has two incubation stations and two adult breeding farms.
Aaylex has over 2,000 employees.
