Frozen shrimp imports may be allowed again in Indonesia
Indonesia may revoke a previous decision made to ban the imports of frozen shrimp in July if domestic production does not reach the target of 300,000 tonnes a year.
A joint Maritime and Fisheries Ministry and Trade Ministry decision was made in January to ban frozen shrimp imports but the Indonesian government looks likely to authorize one company to bring in frozen shrimp for domestic consumption. A final decision on this issue will be announced at the conclusion of the National Shrimp Commission meeting.
