Netherlands see 44.7% drop in finishing pig exports during Q1, 2021

The Netherlands' export of finishing pigs had dropped significantly during the first three months of 2021, from 366,173 head in the first quarter of 2020 to 202,455 head - a 44.7% decline.

The cause of the decline was linked to shipments to Germany, which absorbed 90% of the total number of finishing pigs exported by the Netherlands during 2020.

During the first quarter of 2021, Dutch shipments to Germany decreased by 49% from 353,622 head in the first quarter of 2020 to the current 180,406 head.
