Chicken, Pork Prices Rise by 40-60% In South Korea
Chicken and pork prices continue to rise 40-60% from last year. The wholesale price of chicken was at 3,800 won per 1.2 kilograms, over 60 percent more than 2,300 won recorded over a year ago, according to industry sources.
The rise is attributed to the increased burden in production costs, as feed prices jumped some 30-40 percent compared to those of last year.
Pork is being traded at around 3,500 won per kilogram at an auction, up more than 40 percent from 2,400 won last year.
