ASF detected in Rome, Italy
African swine fever has been confirmed in a dead wild boar found in the Insugherata natural park, Rome, Italy.
This is the first case of the disease in central Italy. The outbreak occurred about 500km away from the Liguria-Piedmont area, which was already affected since the confirmation of the first case on January 7.
The ASF case was reported and identified by the Zooprophylactic Institute of Lazio and confirmed by the national zooprophylactic reference center of Umbria and Marche.
According to the OIE, epidemiological investigations are still ongoing.
