Poor domestic sales drag down China methionine prices

Prices of methionine were unchanged during the week ending May 9.

Export demand remained stable as European buyers continued to stockpile inventories. Nonetheless, domestic sales were slack after May Day holidays with broiler prices weakening. Hence, even as the cost of corn stayed firm, methionine producers and distributors slashed prices in a bid to stimulate demand.

For liquid methionine, price quotes were lower at RMB18/kg.

RMB1=US$0.1448 (May 9)
