Ukraine sows spring grains over 84% of planned areas
Ukraine sowed spring grains and leguminous crops over 7.5 million ha, or 84% of the forecast, as of May 7 of 2012, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informed.
According to the announcement, in particular agrarians planted corn for grain throughout the areas of 3.5 million ha (80% of the forecast), buckwheat - 85,000 ha (30%), millet - 89,000 ha (38%), rice - 18,000 ha (64%).
To date sunflower seed areas occupied 3.1 million ha (76% of the forecast), soy - 879,000 ha (68% of the forecast).
Agrarians already provided re-planting of perished winter grain areas with spring crops throughout 0.97 million ha at the forecast of 1.51 million ha.
