China to set first egg sanitation standards
China will draft the first egg sanitation standards in Hubei province this year, Li Chaoguo, General Secretary of the Provincial Poultry Association said Monday.
The standards will require fresh eggs in China to go through eight processing steps including cleaning, sterilization and selection.
If the said standards are strictly enforced, clean eggs will first arrive in Hubei's markets and no unprocessed eggs will be allowed in the province, the association noted.
