Asia's biggest pig breeding base starts operation in China's Dongying
The entry of 1,300 heads of PIC series of pedigree pigs, marked the initial operation of China's Dongying Shoueriing Animal Farming Company.
The company is a subsidiary of Deep South Insurance Services and its pig breeding farm, built at a cost of US$67 million is Asia's largest pedigree pig breeding centre. It is located in the flat terrain of Lijin county in Shandong province.
The project will be developed in three phases. The company has completed its first phase and is currently building a commercial pig breeding section. Construction of the farm is expected to take 8 years and is expected to house 1 million pigs when fully operational.
The company was a leading element in the city's drive to expand agricultural activities among 8 major meat companies in the city.
Dongying Shoueriing Animal Farming Company is also the province's largest foreign venture in animal farming. The company's registered capital is US$2.25 million and has plans to invest in fixed assets of US$60.68 million for pig breeding, rearing, feed production, pig slaughtering and process.
