Ukraine to increase poultry population by end 2012
Ukraine's Uzbekistan farms plan to increase population of all categories of poultry by the end of 2012 to 48 million with egg production up to 3.85 billion pieces, poultry up to 62,000 tonnes.
These figures were announced in at a round table discussion on "Development of the poultry industry" organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the UNDP "Business Forum of Uzbekistan" project.
Today, poultry in Uzbekistan is one of the fastest growing sectors of agriculture that managed to quickly increase production and provide the population with high quality goods: eggs and poultry meat.
The introduction of modern practice of birds crossing, advanced technology of breeding and feeding birds, preventive veterinary measures, allow for high performance and stable operation of poultry farms.
Thus, today most popular crosses in meat production are "Ross", "Hubbard", and "Cobb". In the republic there are six IFA diagnostic laboratories of the Biochek Company as well as an Israeli laboratory and ARRIAH laboratory at Agalyk-Lomannparranda. Cooperation with leading global companies to import into the Republic of necessary food ingredients has been established: DSM, Biomin, Pharmacy, Evonik, Kemin, etc.
The work on reconstruction and modernisation of poultry farms is successfully conducted, and collaboration with such companies as Muller, Helmann (Germany), Techno (Ukraine), as well as a number of companies from Russia, China, Turkey and Iran is established in this direction.
As a result of the carried out work, in 2011 the poultry population of Uzbekistan reached 42.8 million (including about 20 million of laying hens), 3.44 billion eggs, and about 55,000 tonnes of poultry produced. According to statistics for 2011 the specialised poultry plants obtained about 195 eggs from one hen, while in other categories enterprises got about 140 eggs. The leading farms receiving up to 300-305 eggs from a laying hen include "Toshkentparranda", "Buharaparranda", "YuTMparranda", "Samarkandparranda", "Marokandparranda", etc. As a result, the markets of the republic only sell own products made by domestic poultry enterprises. Quail poultry production has significantly improved.
During the roundtable it was noted that currently the poultry industry is facing new challenges that cannot be solved without the steadfast support of veterinary welfare of poultry farms, new construction and modernisation of existing poultry facilities, the development of poultry breeding, expanding the production volume, product range and improving the veterinary and sanitary quality of poultry products, increase production and procurement of grains and legumes to ensure balanced poultry feed. At the same time, it is necessary to remember the constant improvement of professional skills, synthesis and analysis of international experience of poultry.
During the event, experts discussed the development of innovative approaches to public poultry, shared urgent problems and suggestions on ways to address them.
