Japan tops Vietnamese seafood imports in 1Q
Japan took lead among 34 main importers of Vietnamese seafood in the first quarter of 2009 with total revenue of US$137.73 million, or 18.41 percent of Vietnam's total seafood export revenue, according to Vietnam General Department of Customs (GDC) figures.
GDC said Vietnam exported US$748.17 million worth of seafood in January to March period, down 6.19 percent on year.
EU ranked second as it spent US$120 million importing 50,000 tonnes of seafood products from Vietnam. EU was the biggest consumer of Vietnamese tuna with value of US$10.75 million.
Following was US with revenue of US$111.45 million, accounting for 18.41 percent of Vietnam's total seafood export revenue.
