China Hog: Pre-festive market lacks momentum (week ended Apr 29, 2024)

An eFeedLink Exclusive

Despite stronger pre-festive demand, hog prices lacked the momentum to move higher amid ample availability.  Average weekly hog prices moved in the narrow range of RMB15.20-15.40/kg during April.

On average, hog prices decreased 0.33% to RMB15.16/kg, from RMB15.21/kg over the past week. Compared with a year ago, prices were higher by 1%.

Softer pork demand after the May Day holidays will curtail the sales of hog, hence exerting pressure on the market.
