Salmon prices in Norway drop 10% week-on-week

The Nasdaq Salmon Index fell to NOK 110.08 (~US$ 10.22; NOK 1 = US$0.093) per kg in the 17th week of 2023, a 10.23% decrease, or NOK 12.55 (~US$ 1.16) lower from the previous week's price of NOK 119.24 (~US$ 11.07), SeafoodSource reported.

The Nasdaq Salmon Index is a weighted average index of weekly sales prices of fresh Atlantic superior salmon, head-on gutted, reported by a panel of Norwegian salmon exporters and salmon producers.

Despite a drop in early April, salmon prices are trending above 2022.

According to Fish Pool, the reported total sales volume for Norwegian salmon exporters increased 5%, or 795 metric tonnes (MT), week over week and 21%, or 2,879 MT, year over year in the sixteenth week of 2023.

Volumes were flat over the previous four weeks.
