20,000 tonnes of pork from China's state reserves have been auctioned
The China Merchandise Reserve Management Center said an additional 20,000 tonnes of pork was released from China's state reserves for auction on April 29, 2020, reported Reuters.
In addition to these latest numbers, China has released about 300,000 tonnes of frozen pork from its state reserves in 2020 alone to bolster meat supplies in the country.
China's swine production was affected by an African swine fever outbreak which began in August 2018, with recovery measures disrupted by the recent COVID-19 imposed restrictions.
