Freshly slaughtered pork returns to Singapore shelves after supply disruption

Koh Poh Koon, Singapore's to Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment, said freshly slaughtered pork has returned to Singapore supermarket shelves and will be distributed to wet markets, Channel News Asia reported.
Dr Koh said that operations at the local abattoir have resumed with shipments of live swine from Sarawak, Malaysia.
The supply of freshly slaughtered pork was temporarily disrupted beginning April 23 when the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) suspended the import of live pigs from Pulau Bulan in Indonesia after African swine fever (ASF) was detected in some swine carcasses from a livestock consignment.
SFA collaborated with the abattoir to clean the premises and surrounding area.
Dr Koh said that while investigations at the Pulau Bulan farm are ongoing, the supply of freshly slaughtered pork has resumed.
He thanked the industry and stallholders for their resilience during this period by adapting to alternative pork options such as chilled or frozen.
