Argentina's March grain stocks at 17.23 million tonnes
Stocks of major grains and oilseeds in Argentina totalled 17.23 million tonnes as of March 31, according to the latest provisional data from the National Office for the Control of Agricultural Trade, Oncca.
Stocks of corn, soybeans, sunseed, wheat and 59 "other crops" are down 10 percent from 19.21 million tonnes at the same time last year.
The "other crops" category includes goods like peanuts and rice, etc.
Stocks were up 24 percent from February, when 13.84 million tonnes of grains and oilseeds were held.
Argentina's grain storage capacity in March totalled 49.3 million tonnes while utilised capacity was 17.2 million tonnes, or 35 percent of capacity. The country has 3,033 storage plants, from small silos to large industrial storage facilities.
The following information, which is for stocks in tonnes for major grains and oilseeds as of March 31, 2007, February 28, 2007, and March 31, 2006 does not include grains and oilseeds held privately by farmers.
The information refers to the total amount of stocks held by millers and crushers, as well as grains stored in silos.
