South Korea imports more quantities of US corn for its feed mills

 

 

US corn exports to South Korea for this marketing year 2005/2006 have increased 41 percent compared to imports for the entire marketing year 2004/2005.

 

South Korea have purchased a total of 2.96 million tonnes of US corn from October 2005 - April 2006 compared with sales for the marketing year 2004/2005 totaling 2.09 million tonnes.

 

Of the nearly 3 million tonnes bought during this period, 2.4 million tonnes was used by the feed milling industry and the rest by the corn processing industry for food/industrial uses.

 

The US supplied three-fifths of South Korea's corn requirements last year.
