COVID-19 hits another poultry farm in Canada's British Columbia
Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry in Chilliwack, a city in the province of British Columbia, Canada, confirms that a worker has tested positive for the coronavirus and is now in quarantine, reported NEWS 1130.
The owners of the farm have been advised by the Canada Food Inspection Agency that there is no reason to recall any of their chicken or duck products.
For now, the farm remains open, but the plant itself will be closed as a plan is worked out.
"To our valued customers, we will continue to work with Fraser Health Authority, as well as government inspectors and officials to ensure we follow all recommended protocols, and implement all necessary precautions and procedures," the company said.
Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry is reminding all workers who show "any symptoms to immediately report to human resources," as well as self-isolate for two weeks.
"Should you feel any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, we ask you to isolate, rest, and recover," the company post reads, adding, "In the words of Dr Bonnie Henry, 'Be kind, be calm and be safe.'"
This is the third poultry operation struck by COVID-19—the others are both in Metro Vancouver.
