Hungary's poultry processors press for import limits
According to the head of the Poultry Products Council on Tuesday, poultry farmers and processors in Hungary call on the EU to restrict imports from third world countries, reported Hungary Today.
Orders from restaurants and commercial accommodations, normally accounting for about 30% of poultry producers' business, have plummeted due to the novel coronavirus epidemic, Attila Csorbai said on news channel M1.
The glut caused by companies clearing their inventories has pushed poultry prices under costs, Csorbai said.
The price of poultry now stands at HUF230 (EUR0.64) per kilogramme, down from HUF260-270 earlier, he added.
