Despite ASF concerns, New Hope to build 3 swine farms in Vietnam
New Hope Group said last week it is building three swine farms in Vietnam, even as African swine fever (ASF) spreads through the country, Reuters reported.
The farms, located in Thanh Hoa, Binh Phuoc, and Binh Dinh provinces, will produce 930,000 head annually, with construction to be completed by 2021.
The Group has invested more than 1.1 billion yuan (US$163.51 million) into the swine farms, tapping on the opportunity of an upgrade of the Vietnamese swine farming industry, as it signed an agreement with Vietnamese authorities at China's Belt and Road Forum on Thursday.
New Hope currently has eight feed companies in Vietnam, which sold more than 700,000 tonnes of feed in 2018.
