Philippine Poultry Industry Booming
Livestock production in the Philippines have become more profitable than ever for the first time in history as prices soared considerable, according to Romy Crispino, head of the Farmers's Association of Davao del Sur during Wednesday's agriculture and fisheries congress at the Waterfront Insular hotel.
"This is the first time, under the present administration, that poultry raisers benefited so much. The hog raisers, for example were given incentives to import high-breed stocks, and as a result the hog farmers can avail of new varieties and new breed of hogs," Crispino said.
Crispino said the livestock business, or those involved the piggery, poulty, and feed milling business are enjoying benefits from the increase prices of their products.
"Sa feed-milling business, ngayong lang talaga umabot ang presyo ng live wheat dito sa Mindanao ng P75 per kilo, P83 per kilo sa Cebu at P85 per kilo naman sa Luzon," Crispino said.
For the poultry production, Crispino said a big reduction in import taxes was given to the poultry raisers especially in the egg production.
