Domestic poultry farmingrestrictions lifted in the Netherlands
Carola Schouten, Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality said restrictions imposed on commercial Dutch farmers to keep birds indoors due to avian influenza risks have been lifted, reported Reuters.
The measures were imposed on February 12, 2020 after neighbouring Germany reported outbreaks of the H5N8 bird flu.
In a letter addressed to the parliament, minister Schouten said there is less danger now of migratory wild birds spreading the virus.
Europe's poultry industry was adversely affected by several avian influenza cases in recent months. The countries affected include Germany, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic.
