Vietnam's poultry meat export shows signs of recovery

Vietnam's Department of Livestock Husbandry said poultry meat export has begun to show signs of recovery since the beginning of this year, Vietnam Plus reported.
The department, under the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, said Vietnam exported more poultry meat worth over US$1.6 million in February, more than double the amount exported in January and higher than the US$86,500 in income reported in the same time of 2022.
The largest importer of poultry meat was the Republic of Korea, which accounted for 28.6% of all imports. Malaysia came in second with 24.8%.
In the meantime, estimates for chicken egg exports in February came in at over US$501,500, more than tripling the amount reported a year earlier.
According to the department, poultry farming continued to grow steadily in the first quarter of 2023, with a population of roughly 551.4 million birds, 563,200 tonnes of meat produced, and 4.7 billion eggs produced, all of which increased by 2.4%, 4.2%, and 4.5% year-on-year, respectively.
Vietnam exported poultry meat worth almost US$3.77 million last year, a dramatic decline from the US$20.7 million in 2021.
