Ukraine to increase grain production to 80 million tonnes
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Mykola Prysiazhnyuk declared on April 7 that Ukraine should increase the general grain production to the level of 80 million tonnes by 2017.
The Minister said that the nationwide statistics on losses of winter crop plantings is disappointing. The similar areas of losses was noticed in 2003 only - nearly 5.5 million hectares.
In the current year the index totals nearly 3.2 million hectares. That is why the last year harvest is mainly the anomaly than the rule. On the one hand, one can say that the weather conditions were favourable. On the other hand, agrarians concentrate on achievements of the science. To date the main task for the science - how to make balances for realising of the spring field works. The dynamics of recent years show the trend of increasing of the general grain production, said Prysiazhnyuk.
