Jordan cancels tender for 100,000 tonnes feed barley
Jordan's Ministry of Trade and Industry Thursday (Apr 26) said it cancelled a tender to buy 100,000 tonnes of feed barley on a cost and freight basis.
"We cancelled the tender as the prices were too high," Muhannad Ghesh, senior importer at the ministry, told Dow Jones Newswires.
Jordan is set to announce a new tender next week, Ghesh added.
Jordan was tendering for 100,000 tonnes of barley, the first 50,000 tonnes for shipment until May 15 and the remaining 50,000 for shipment from May 15-31.
Jordan last bought barley Feb 1, when it purchased 50,000 tonnes from Socef and 50,000 tonnes from Toepfer at US$238/tonne to be shipped during the first half of March.
