Spain's meat exports increased 61% in March
Spain's exports of meat and meat preparations have increased in March, reaching 230,261 tonnes - a 61% increase over the previous year, according to the latest data published by CEXGAN.
In the first quarter, Spain's total exports of meat products reached 677,126 tonnes, 73% more than for the same period of 2020.
Pork products are the main driver of these outstanding increases, as they accounted for almost 92% of total exports during the first quarter, with 622,270 tonnes and an increase of 79% compared to 2020 data (347,728 tonnes).
China is the main destination for Spanish pork, accounting for 80% of total exports (492,765 tonnes). In fact, Spain is the world's leading supplier of pork to China.
The Philippines, Japan and South Korea are the other leading destinations, but they trail behind China.
