France And Japan To Aid Cambodia In Bird Flu Fight
France and Japan have pledged continued aid to help Cambodia control the bird flu.
Documents to this effect were signed in Phnom Penh on Friday with a total aid package of USD 1,667,000.
France will grant EUR 45,000 (USD 57,000) to Cambodia, while Japan will contribute USD 1.61 million. The aid aims to help Cambodia cooperate with regional countries, especially Thailand, Viet Nam and Laos in conducting research, control and prevention activities.
Later that day, State Secretary of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Chan Tong Iv said after finding that bird flu had remained in some localities including Kompong Siem district of Kompong Cham province, the Government has increased its cooperation with other regional countries in the fight against bird flu.
