Milk production rises in Australia, US; down in New Zealand in February
Milk production in New Zealand in February decreased 2.3% from last year, while it increased 3.5% in Australia and 1.8% in the US, according to data compiled by the European Commission.
EU milk collection increased 2.9% in February compared with the same month in 2017. Cumulated January-February deliveries were 3.5% (+850,000 tonnes) above the same period in 2017.
Skim milk powder price in US dollar decreased 1.3% in Oceania last fortnight and increased 1.8% in the US. Still, Oceania is the most expensive for milk powders, according to compiled data, but whole milk powder prices are very similar in the three regions.
Butter quotations increased in Oceania 4.5% and in the US by 3.8%, while they decreased 1.6% in the EU, but EU butter was still the most expensive.
EU cheddar is also the most expensive in world markets, according to the data.
